The Under 18s had a very good win against Sturt on Saturday. We got off to a slow start and Sturt led at one point by over 4 goals in the 1st quarter, but we started to come back into the game with some strong defensive efforts and starting winning the contested ball more. We kicked 7 goals 10 points to 2 goals 3points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to take a 17 point lead into ¾ time. Sturt kicked the first 2 goals of the last quarter to get within 4 points but we were able to respond really well and kick a steadier and ultimately win by 9 points.

We had many good players in a high standard game – Cooper Gaffney continued his good form with 22 possessions and an incredible 15 tackles, Jack Lukosious was always a danger at Centre Half Forward and took 10 marks for the day as well as kicking 2 goals, James Rowe and Jake Weidemann battled well in our midfield, Chris Schwarz and Isaac Brill worked very hard in defence against much taller opponents and did well, and Nick Moore and Xavier Redden also played well.

Turning to this week and we take on Glenelg, last year’s Premier team in the under 18s, at Gliderol Stadium on Saturday afternoon – yet another great challenge for us.
