After a month of selection for our Statewide Super Shield Squads the Girls were keen to put into practice what they have been training for against other talented female footballers from within the SANFL Club zones.

The Under 14’s Coached by Georgia Taylor & Jason Fairall began well and played some good run & carry footy with Jamie Parish & Madison Schwarz (2 goals) leading the way. Kiara Elliott did some good work around the stoppages, Chloe Schwarz & Astrid Gooley were dangerous in the forward line with Jessica Hill doing a stellar job in defence. Deenie Ericson made the most of her opportunities by chipping in for a goal.

Both teams had the same amount of scoring shots, but West were a little more accurate in front of goal and we unfortunately went down by 10 points, West 5.1 (31) Eagles 3.3 (21).

The Under 17’s coached by Anthony Forby & Scott Prebble assisted by Bill Fuller begun solidly with 2 goals each at quarter time and the game was still in the balance, with the Eagles holding a one goal lead at half time.

We managed to outscore Westies in the second half by kicking 2 goals 3, to 1 goal 1. Kiana Lee (2 goals), Olivia Cochrane, Teagan Usher got amongst the play, whilst Kiara Agius (2 goals), Nikita McRostie and Caitlin Byrne also contributed well to the sides win. Alysha Fitzgerald chipped in with a goal.

Well done to the Under 17’s with final scores being Eagles 5. 5 (35), West Adelaide 3.3 (21).

This week we take on South Adelaide here at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval on Sunday, the Under 14’s from 10am and Under 17’s starting at 11:30am.
