Congratulations to Jared Polec of the Woodville West Torrens Football Club, Round 17’s Powerade Star Search Award winner.

Following good form in Reserves, Jared was promoted to the League side last weekend, where he showed great poise playing through the midfield.

He amassed 23 disposals, including 3 goals and two behinds in what was his seventh League outing.

Jared last month played in the State U18s, gaining All-Australian selection.

This is his second Star Search nomination, having been selected previously in Round 19, 2009.

ABOUT THE POWERADE STAR SEARCH AWARD

The Powerade Star Search Award recognises the talented youngsters making their mark in League ranks.

To be eligible for the award, nominees are required to meet the following criteria:

players must have played no more than eight State League games at the start of the 2010 season

• Players must be aged 21 or under at January 1, 2010

• AFL rookies are eligible for the award unless promoted to the senior list of their AFL club

• Players who are suspended by the tribunal during the 2010 season are ineligible to win the award

On the completion of the minor round, one of the 23 nominees will be chosen by the review panel as the 2010 Powerade Star Search Award winner.  The award carries a winner’s purse of $2000.
