U 18 Match Report Rd 5

The Under 18s had a very good win against Glenelg on Saturday, finishing with a strong second half to win by 72 points.  We played some good football in patches in the first half but Glenelg hit back strongly at the end of both quarters and we took a 19 point lead into half time.  The second half saw a very complete game from us and we kicked 10 goals 7points to 2 goals 2 points to record our victory.

Jake Weidemann was very good in our midfield with 30 possessions, Cooper Gaffney and Xavier Redden continued their good form along with Jack Lukosious, Josh Hoyle and Isaac Brill led a strong defence, Nick Moore was very good with his 4 goals and Will Schultz and Sam Michael gave us good contests as ruckmen.

This week we have a competition bye so we will have a break before we prepare for West Adelaide at home on May 20th. I would like to add my congratulations to the players selected in the 2017 McDonald’s SA Under-18 Squad and we wish, Cooper Gaffney, Jack Lukosious, Andy McPherson, Isaac Moller, James Rowe, Tom Schmusch and Jake Weidemann all the best for the AFL National Championships.
