Captain Courageous Sinor reaches 150 games

By ZAC MILBANK

Woodville-West Torrens captain Joey Sinor admits he questioned whether he would push on to his 150th Hostplus SANFL League game.

Laying in a hospital bed less than 48 hours after last year’s Elimination Final, the 31-year-old was contemplating retirement as he prepared to have surgery on his broken jaw.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the Eagles’ skipper felt it was his turn to display the courage which has punctuated his career since making his League debut in 2014.

Like usual he didn’t hesitate to run back with the flight of the ball for his team, a hallmark which also resulted in him being selected as captain of the West End State team.

Having the honour of donning the cherished No.10 guernsey in honour of past SA captain Chris McDermott, Sinor isn’t certain if he will have enough energy in the tank to reach 200 games.

But he will give it every opportunity through the support of his wife Georgia, who has been very supportive of the Eagles’ No.35 as he juggles his most important off-field role.

Playing dad to Macey, Lenni and Eadie certainly keeps the electrician on his toes as he negotiates his footy and work commitments on a weekly basis.

Set to reach his milestone on Saturday against the unbeaten Sturt at Thomas Farms Oval, Sinor takes confidence in the knowledge his team as the last to defeat the Double Blues in the minor round on their home deck.
