Veteran Eagle Riley Knight will be looking to gain valuable match fitness in the trial matches.
Woodville-West Torrens will be Harper Montgomery’s third SANFL club when he makes his return to the Hostplus League in 2026.
Playing his junior career with North Adelaide before also spending time with Port Adelaide, the 21-year-old admist he ”had his heart set on the Eagles” after chatting at length with coach Sam Jacobs.
The son of Port Adelaide premiership half-back Brett Montgomery, Harper is carving his own niche as an intercepting defender, a role he relished playing with Greater Western Sydney’s VFL team for the past two seasons.
Measuring in at 187cm, Montgomery feels he is able to clamp down on both the tall and small forwards while also providing plenty of rebound with his booming left-foot kick.
Off the field, he has transformed his own clothing label into a richly-rewarding social well-being organisation which encourages those with mental health challenges to open up in a ”place of comfort.”
Revealing he had a ”rough childhood” whilst finding his way through friendship groups, Montgomery is passionate about helping people taking their first step into their comfort zone.
Woodville-West Torrens fans could be forgiven for thinking Matthew Goldsworthy is still sporting the No.29 guernsey.
Instead, it is look-a-like Jett Hasting who is forging his own path after booting 14 goals from 18 games in his first Hostplus SANFL League campaign last year.
Now, the 19-year-old is primed to elevate his game again in 2026 after starring on the training track with a noticeable improvement in his fitness and strength.
Hasting logged a 2km time trial personal best before Christmas and has been displaying more leadership amongst his peers.
Expect the Central Yorke Cougars product to push for midfield minutes after earning the club’s Best First Year Player award as a small forward in 2025.
2025 Best First Year Player Jett Hasting continues to impress on the training track.
SA U18 coach Tony Bamford profiles the Eagles’ players in 2026.
Jack Leys
Jack is in his second State pathway program, having been involved at U16 State level back in 2024. He is also in the Richmond FC’s NGA Academy under the Father-Son rule. Jack is the type of player who likes to get the ball moving forward for his team by taking the opposition on with his legs. He has played both as a winger and high forward over the past season and has completed our program training with the midfield group. We have exposed him to more inside, contested ball scenarios to help him improve his contest method and decision-making with ball.
Blake Karpany
Blake is in the SANFL State pathway for the first time after a breakout season playing as a general forward last year. He was able to complete our program (attendance & load) well considering he lives on the Yorke Peninsula. He is lightly built but has great anticipation and some real X-factor with the ball in his hands. We want to encourage him to learn to impact the game more in defence and pressure more consistently.
Mitch Harris
Mitch is in his second State pathway program, having been involved at U16 at State level back in 2024. He was able to complete our program (attendance & load) well considering he lives on the Yorke Peninsula. Mitch has played primarily as a key defender at SANFL underage level and trained in our program in the same role. He is very sound in intercepting the ball and aerial contests where he can complete and win or break even consistently. We have challenged him to keep developing his field-kicking skills to ensure his decision-making and execution are at a high level.
