Annie comes full circle to 50 SANFLW games

By ZAC MILBANK

Annie Falkenberg knows exactly how the nerves can build traveling down to Flinders University Stadium.

Woodville-West Torrens’ captain has vivid memories about making her Hostplus SANFLW League debut at Noarlunga, the same venue she will notch her 50th match against the Panthers on Saturday.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 27-year-old proudly recalled being a part of the Eagles’ first SANFLW game in Round 1 of 2019.

Starting in attack, Falkenberg has since become a fixture at the other end of the ground for her team as she thrives in her leadership role.

Edging closer towards becoming a qualified psychologist for the Department of Correctional Services, Falkenberg said there are beneficial synergies between her roles on and off the field.

Now the Eagles’ No.8 is determined to steer her side into an inaugural finals berth, having seen Central District do the same in 2023.

After earning a breakthrough win against Norwood in Round 3, Falkenberg is hoping the ”dam wall will burst” for her Eagles in Round 4 and beyond this season.
