COVID-19 – Update from WWTFC

Dear Members, Sponsors and Supporters

I would like to provide an update on the Club’s response to the current COVID-19 situation. This is an unprecedented situation and has produced multiple new challenges for us all.

Earlier this week the SANFL confirmed the 2020 season will be postponed until at least May 31.  We understand your disappointment, our players and staff are devastated by the impact this situation is having on everyone involved. More than anything, we believe it is important that we follow the best advice that is available to us and play our part in a community response to stop the spread of this virus.

It is for this reason that we have cancelled Thursday and Friday nights at the Eagles Function Centre effective from Monday 23rdMarch.  Initially, this arrangement is for a period of 4 weeks and we will provide updates as they eventuate.  Many of our members have indicated they will move to Seven 22 on Thursday and Friday nights and we encourage all of our members to join them.

In addition, we are closing the office at Oval Avenue from Monday 23rdMarch until the 20thApril at present, however you can continue to contact the club on 83472444 or by emailing eagles@wwtfc.com.au

During this time our football department will be keeping players informed of the latest information available and ensuring the players health and wellbeing.  The Board and Management are reviewing the many football and financial issues that this situation has created, in addition to reviewing the operations of Seven 22 to keep the venue operating during this crisis.

I am aware that many of you will have questions which may be very difficult to answer at this stage in an environment where things are changing almost on an hourly basis.  However, Luke Powell, our Chief Executive Officer and our Board will endeavour to provide regular updates.  We are looking at a number of new and exciting ways of communicating with you to keep you informed and connected.

We want to thank our loyal members and sponsors and we have been humbled by the level of support shown by you all.  So many of you have communicated your support for our club with sponsors re-signing and members joining despite the current situation.  This makes our Eagles family so unique and amazing.  This support is critical for our club at this time to ensure that when this crisis has ended we are in a good place to be able to resume business as normal.

On behalf of everyone at the Club, including all players and staff, please look after yourself and we look forward to having you back cheering on the mighty Eagles again soon.
