The Reserves played Norwood last Saturday at Maughan Thiem Kia oval on a perfect day for football. The challenge for our group was to play a consistent 4 quarter performance relevant to our standards, the results should then go our way. If you were at the game I think you would have seen a big improvement in the groups pressure, tackling and desperation to win the ball and to get at the opposition.
To the team this week we were able to welcome 4 players back from injury into the team especially Jordan West and Jake Comitogianni who returned from substantial injury breaks. In a credit to our strength and conditioning team both didn’t miss a beat with Jordan leading the hitouts and “Comma” earning best on ground with his 5 goals.
Throughout the game I felt we were able to control parts of it through our ball use and ability to find targets up forward. Ethan Haylock, Mitch Mead and Mitch Hardie were all pivotal in this department and Nick Moore worked hard both ways finding plenty of the ball. It was pleasing to see two of our key forwards score goals with Pierce Seymour and Jack Wheare kicking 4 goals apiece. From the back half we had great rebound from Cooper Gaffney and Seb Kerrish.
The Reserves competition is in great shape at the moment and every game is an exciting match up for our group now. This week we meet Central District out at Elizabeth and can’t wait for the challenge.
