Introducing the Lindsay Head Golden Eagle Award

The WWTFC is pleased to announce that the U18 Best and Fairest will now be known as the Lindsay Head Golden Eagle Award.  The award will be presented to the Best and Fairest U18 player as selected by the Coaches and will comprise of a perpetual trophy donated by Maughan Thiem Kia and a medal.

Lindsay Head’s career comprised of 327 games for West Torrens, kicking 494 goals,  and was a member of the 1953 West Torrens Premiership team.  Lindsay also played 37 State games for South Australia, and was named in the All-Australian team in 1956.  He won the West Torrens Best and Fairest Award in 1955-56, 1958-59, 1962-63 and 1966-67 and won the Magarey Medal in 1955, 1958 and 1963.  Lindsay was also an inaugural inductee into the All-Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1996 and also an inaugural inductee into the South Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2002.  Lindsay is a legend of our game and his interest in developing players is evident in this award.
