Best Players: Barnett, Beecken, McCann, McNeilly, Gaze, Brownlie

The Under 18s had a good win against West Adelaide on Saturday, winning by 22 points.  It was first versus second on the premiership ladder and we opened well with the aid of a breeze we kicked 3 goals 2 points and held West Adelaide scoreless.   Westies hit back hard in the second quarter and outscored us winning the quarter by 10 points.  We played well in the second half although we struggled to find the goals kicking 4 goals 10 points and restricting West to 3 goals 2 points to run out winners.

The match was played for the Jake Watson shield which commemorates the lives of Jake Watson, Corey Seimers, Ben Mitchell and Glenn Knott, West Adelaide junior players who were taken from this life far too early.  In line with the occasion, all the players from both clubs gave their everything in what was a tough hard encounter.

Luke Barnett revelled in the conditions with plenty of inside footy as a midfielder, Luke Beecken was a great captain and prolific through the midfield as well, Shaun McNeilly continues his good form in our defence and Callum Gaze was another defender who won a lot of contested footy, Jack McCann did some good work from the wings and Ethan Brownlie also did well on his wing in just his third game of Under 18s.  Jamie Coff was our major goal scorer with three.

This week we kick off the triple header against Norwood at Coopers Stadium starting at 9.25am in what I am sure will be another tough match.
