R13 we knew West would be running red hot to get the win to keep their season alive. We didn’t bring our usual energy and we looked off around contest.
The stats were heavily favoured in the oppositions favour but we managed to stay relevant in the game by taking our opportunities. Our 3rd quarter was impressive with 3 straight goals whilst holding West to 1 goal 2 and in that quarter we hit the front against the flow of play.
Our 4th quarter we failed to score and West scored 1 goal 2 again to sneak home by 10 points. A few critical decisions in dangerous parts of the ground didn’t go our way and we failed to get our offensive game going with West marking everything, playing a strong intercept and scores from turnover game. Poor decision making with ball in hand hurt us and even though we again showed patches of how we want to play it wasn’t consistent or sustained.
With other results ensuring we again finish 7th this season there are several games we feel got away from us but this doesn’t detract from our ladder position.
One round left against Glenelg, and even though we have won more games this season than our past seasons, we feel we have left a lot out on the park and want to finish with a win against a top 4 side.
