Rel’s Review – Round 14

Narelle Smith reviews Round 14 vs Glenelg

For our final game of the season we set ourselves the goal of challenging sides that will play finals, and R14 was no different.

We certainly bought our contest game and controlled majority of the game. We let this one slip with a single point being the final losing margin.

We led at every change except the one that mattered. We missed 3 easy shots on goal that would have put the game to bed and of course as with momentum swings we couldn’t hold that for the whole game.  The opposition had luck on their side and everything went their way where they scored 3 unanswered goals in the last quarter.

We had our chances late and got things back on our terms late in the last quarter, but couldn’t land the final goal to steal the match back. Our final quarter we kicked 3 points and 1 rushed behind. We certainly are proud of the effort and can’t help but feel another game that got away from us.  Scoring shots we led 11 to 7 and again won the I50’s by 2 and will retain our second position across the home and away season as #2 in the comp for I50’s. The 27% scoring accuracy tells the tale and it will need to be a strong focus moving forward.

We now take some time to review the season and look to rest, recover, and reset for Season 2025.  Thank-you to all the supporters, including friends and family members that came to watch our games, and special mention to all our volunteers who show up every week to support the Eagles SANFLW program – you are valued beyond belief.
