Round 6 saw us playing North in our second home game of the season. The vibe was one of calm and we knew if we stuck to our process, we should be able to play some consistent football and solidify our season.
North are one of those teams we didn’t want to underestimate, and they didn’t disappoint in the first half with the margin at the main break being 10 points only.
After half time we showed how we want to play and were able to score 6 last half goals and secure a solid 48 point win. Our ledger for Season 2024 is now even with 3 wins, 3 losses which builds the self-belief amongst the group.
Poppy Waterford continues to shine and even thought she received a heavy tag from North but was able to have a big influence on the game. Our young players such as Bianca Portaro, Imogen Trengove, Olivia Evans and Popi Gikas continue to grow and show great promise and composure. One of the highlights of the match a long bomb goal from McKenzie Dowrick tight on the boundary just inside 50 and should make the SANFL highlight reel.
We will now review, recover and prepare for a red-hot Glenelg down at the Bay playing our first night clash. Should be a good test for our playing group as we round out the first half of our season.
