Round 9 coming off the bye saw us taking on South after their lowest score in their SANFLW history. We always knew they would come out with something to prove and we felt prepared for their style of play which is to suffocate sides with density to prevent scoring.
The first half was a tight battle and at the major break with both sides only having managed one goal with a slight lead to our opposition with a 4 point lead. We had some good passages of play and missed some inside 50 opportunities to take the lead and put some scoreboard pressure on early. Unfortunately we did not score again after half time and over the following half had 1.4 kicked against us to lose by 20 points.
So the margin even though not big, we never really looked threatening forward of centre. The back group can hold their heads high as they stood up and prevented a big score against us and the inside 50 count weighed heavily in the favour of the visitors. The usual suspects in Fiegert, Falkenberg and Waterford stood up under the opposition chaos and density. With 5 rounds left in our season we now focus on R10 and playing the season out as we know our best is good enough to beat any side its a matter of building more consistency and playing games out for longer.
