Round 9 will go down as the one that got away. We will take plenty of learnings from the game and help us prepare as we head towards Finals.
Q1 South jumped us kicking 5 unanswered goals and made us look sluggish and second the ball all over the ground. We were soundly beaten by a more coordinated side who took their opportunities. It was a 3-5 goal breeze which was hard to handle and our back 5 were under siege for majority of the quarter with South having 13 more inside 50’s.
That would be the last score for South and we worked our way back in to the game and showed why we deserve to be sitting top of the table. We won every key stat for the rest of the game and fell agonisingly short losing by 4 points. We will take away a lot from this game and because of our strong start to the season still hold our spot on top of the ladder with a healthy percentage.
Round 10 is the second week of First Nations Round and we head to Prospect on Saturday to take on North Adelaide who are in great form. North are sitting third on the ladder and play a similar style of football to us with ball movement a feature which should make for an excellent game.
Again we link in with the Men’s Reserves and League teams so it should be a great day with nicer weather for a great day of Eagles footy.
