Footy must be back, didn’t take long for the highs and lows to come, our round 1 game had it all.
A disappointing result after being in a strong position to win the game and also winning 3 of the 4 quarters, but credit to Central District as they always felt they were within striking distance.
In promising signs we showed when we get our game going our best is certainly good enough and we were even able to respond within quarters as we did in the 2nd.
To give up 4 goals inside the first 10 minutes of the last quarter changed the course of the game, and we found ourselves behind. The boys were gallant and fought their way back to hold slight lead heading into the final moments. With Centrals kicking the winning goal in the final 30 seconds was a bitter pill to swallow, but we don’t look for excuses and we must learn and play better for longer vs Norwood on Saturday.
Great to see our experienced players go well with Sinor, J Hayes, Mutch, Ballenden, Rowe and Knight performing strongly, and congratulations to our debutants Liam Ueding, Brandon Jackson-Martin, Deakan Jackson and Jett Hasting.
It’s so great to have footy season back underway, and even better being at home at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval for the quadruple header against Norwood, and we look to see as many Eagles members and supporters there as possible.
