Sam Jacobs reviews Round 18 League vs South Adelaide

On Saturday we headed to Noarlunga Oval to take on South Adelaide. Unfortunately, after a good week at training we again started slow and it put us on the back foot straight away, while it wasn’t super strong there was a breeze favouring the South End. Our contested possession wasn’t at the level and being +9 in tackles showed that we were second to the ball.

The second quarter we were able to get ourselves into the game but too many missed shots in front of goal didn’t put scoreboard pressure on.

In a similar theme in the second half, South were able to convert and gain control of the game in the third quarter and we fought hard in the last but weren’t able again to take chances when they came our way.

We won 2 of the 4 quarters, but credit to South they took their chances when they needed too and also had the game on their terms for longer throughout.

Better players on the day were Lukas Cooke (25 touches, 5 spoils and a goal), James Rowe (32, 6 inside 50s and 6 clearances), Kobe Mutch (28 and 9 tackles), Jordan Lukac (20 and 13 hitouts to advantage) and Patty Weckert in his first game in 12 months (15 touches, 7 marks, 7 inside 50s and 2 goals).

Joe Sinor unfortunately copped a bump at the 7-minute mark of the 3rd that will come under scrutiny, sadly that will end our skippers 2025 season, he and we appreciate all the well wishes sent, and most of all Joe is doing well. It’s been a really challenging 2nd half of the season and he has taken on a lot of the responsibility himself, and he deserves a lot of kudos for the way he has carried himself.

Would love to see a big turnout on Sunday when we play North Adelaide to support the boys and we are very motivated to take a win with us to end the season.
