Ton Up For Eagles Great ALF ROBERTS

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club would like to wish Eagles legend, Alf Roberts, a very happy 100th birthday today!

Alf is the last remaining member of the West Torrens 1945 Premiership team, and was also a key figure in our Club’s 1953 Premiership side, along with our other living legend, Lindsay Head.

He was a magnificent “drop-kick” of the ball out from full-back, making the number 23 guernsey, for the majority of his career, his own – a very fair player and had a wonderful relationship with the “one and only” Bob Hank both on the footy field, and in golf at the Grange Golf Club for nigh on 50 plus years.

Alf Roberts playing career:

  • 1944-1958
  • Games: 234
  • Goals: 2
  • Played 158 games in succession
  • Position: Full Back
  • Premierships: 1945, 1953
  • Club Champion: 1954
  • Vice Captain: 1957
  • State Games: 8 for South Australia
  • West Torrens Football Club Life Member: 1953
  • Club leading Magarey Medal votegetter 1950, 1954, and was third in 1950 count.

Join us in wishing Alf Roberts a wonderful milestone birthday.
