UNDER 18s
The under 18s fought out a win against North Adelaide on Saturday, winning a very tough game by 9 points.
We started well with a breeze and kicked some late goals to take a 14 point lead into quarter time. North Adelaide responded with a very strong quarter of their own and kicked 5 goals holding us to just one and so they had control of the game at half time with a 14 point lead of their own.
Trading places we then took a turn of kicking 5 goals and held North goal less which proved critical in the match. Holding a 15 point lead, a tough last quarter ensued with the Roosters having chances early in the quarter and getting to with 8 points but we were able to respond and held on for a nine point win holding North to 2 goals and kicking one ourselves.
Zac Schwarz was very good in our midfield showing some great ball handling in the conditions, Jack Cook and Harry Dodd did well in defence and on the ball, Jack Gray was a dangerous forward with 4 goals and Will Hawker playing his first game for the season showed some great strength in defence. Albert Ebert also played his first game of under 18 footy and did well with 2 goals and some great pressure.
With the State program now ended we would like to acknowledge the boys who were part of that squad – Rome Burgoyne, Harry Dodd, Tate Delmenico, Jett Hasting, Kade Herbert and Charlie West who are all under 18 this year and all played games for SA along with Jevan Phillipou and Logan Hughes who are both Under 17 with Jevan playing a game for SA and Logan gaining valuable experience being part of the elite program. They all represented themselves, their families and our club, very well. Our thanks also go to the SANFL Talent Department and SA U18 Coach Tony Bamford for the opportunities and supporting the boys through the program.
This week we take on the top team Glenelg at home on Saturday from 11.00am.

UNDER 16s
After a couple of weeks off, we were back into it again against Fourth placed North Adelaide at Home.
In tough conditions due to the rain we began well by having the first four shots on goals, North fought back in the last half of the first quarter, at quarter time we held onto a 3 point lead. North had a very good second quarter kicking 4 goals 4 to our 1 point to open up a lead of 4 goals at the main break.
Kicking 3 goals 1 to 2 goals 1 in the third we were able to get back in the game, however we were unable to sustain the effort and North ran out victors by 7 goals.
Lucas Martin kicked 2 goals, with singles to Connor Robertson and Michael Daly. Zack Lloyd battled hard up fwd & thru the midfield, Jack Marks in Ruck, Jai Stokes thru the midfield, Jensen Frantz in the backlines and Jack Leys thru the midfield and down back all had good moments. I would also like to acknowledge Isaac James on playing his first game.
This week we take on Glenelg at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Saturday afternoon.
