UNDER 18s
The Under 18s had a good win against Norwood on Saturday, winning by 57 points. It was good to get the win after a tough run of 3 losses including 2 narrow ones in consecutive weeks.
We started well, although our goal kicking was astray kicking 2 goals 6 points but defensively we held Norwood to just the 1 point.
The second quarter was a bit more of an arm wrestle with both sides having the same number of scoring shots but the Redlegs missed some chances and we went into the main break 22 points up at half time.
We played some good footy in the third term although again were off line kicking 4goals 6 points and holding the Legs goal less and we were able to round the game off with a winning last quarter.
It was the first time this year that we have won all four quarters.
Zane Peucker was prolific with his ball winning (31 possessions) and impacted the scoreboard with 3 goals as well, and he was ably assisted by Ethan Ashley (35 possessions) also in the midfield, Jack Leys made his wing a winner for us, as did Noah Ah Chee, Freddie Wilson rucked well and impacted up forward, Logan Hughes with 4 goals and Owen Hartley Brown played well across our forward half. Mitch Harris, Jensen Frantz and Lachie Marshall-Bates were strong defenders for us.
This week we debuted Jack Trotter for his first game of the year and he did well in our defence with some strong running and attack on the ball.
Also great to see Luke Russel from our Under 18 squad debut in our Development grade this week.
With the competition bye this week, our College players go back to school for their Term 3 footy and we wish them all the best as we prepare for our next game against Glenelg at Stratarama Stadium on Saturday 2 August from 11.00am.

UNDER 16s
The Under 16s took on Norwood at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Saturday, with Norwood proving too strong in the end, winning by a margin of 61 points.
We entered the game with quite a settled team with only one change from the previous game. Despite a few early opportunities, Norwood got on top in the first quarter. Our tackling pressure was high which kept Norwood to only one goal for the quarter, but unfortunately, we could only manage one behind ourselves.
In the second quarter, our boys lifted their contested work around the ground and started to get on top in clearances. We set up opportunities for our forward line and with goals to Hugo Thyer and Fraser Baker, we squared the quarter with Norwood, 2 goals apiece.
After half time, it was all one-way traffic. Unfortunately, we struggled to win possession of the ball, our defensive pressure dropped away and our ball movement became predictable. Disappointingly, Norwood kicked 9 goals to our 2 after half time putting the result beyond doubt.
Most of our better players were in the defensive half with key defenders Bayden Fenech, Hudson Walsh and Hamish Wildbore leading the way. Midfielders Fraser Baker and Tyson Schultz battled hard all day and James Richardson was the pick of the forwards. Our goal-kickers were all singles to Richardson, Baker, Lucien Kravinskis and Mitchell Haley.
Our next game is against Glenelg on Saturday August 2 at Stratarama Stadium, starting at 1:30 pm.
Congratulations to Tate Sampson representing South Australia in the State Under 16 team during the week. Tate contributed well throughout all three games, with a highlight being his 2 goals in the win against Victoria Country last Tuesday. Well done Tate!
