UNDER 18s
The Under 18s lost their Round 5 match to West Adelaide on Thursday night, losing a tough affair by 13 points.
The damage was done in the first quarter where Westies scored 3 goals and kept us goal less. From there it was a pretty tight affair with the players working very hard and generating many forward entries but we weren’t able to convert and the Bloods held us at bay with some good footy of their own and secured the win.
We had a few good players with Jack Cook and Zane Peucker continuing to lead the way with their attack on the ball and their possession getting, Dougal Ashby continued his strong form in defence along with Joel Hill and Jake Hall worked hard on his wing, whilst Jamie Russell-Swansson was a threat all night with his speed and ball winning.
This week we debuted three players – with Jack Marks, Hunter Wellgreen and Nathan Tokic all making contributions through the game.
Well done to our Under 18 State Squad members Jack Cook, Jevan Phillipou and Zane Peucker – all three have been in outstanding form for us and we wish them the best over the next few months

UNDER 16s
On Thursday night before the Easter weekend, our Under 16 team took on West Adelaide in a night game at Woodville Oval. It was great to welcome Mason Papps and Toby Clogg into the team for their first game of Under 16s football for the Eagles.
We had a poor start to the game with West Adelaide kicking 4 goals in the first 10 minutes, and another 3 goals before the end of the first quarter. It was definitely not the start we were looking for, trailing by 37 points at the first break.
The second quarter was similar, although there were signs that the game was levelling. In the third quarter, we demonstrated an improved team performance, and outscored West Adelaide by 20 points; 4 goals straight to 4 points. We began winning one-on-one contests and our ball usage around the ground improved, giving us effective scoring opportunities. By the end of the game, we’d reduced the deficit to 20 points, but it was clear that we’d given West Adelaide too much of a head start.
We had several good players and 9 goal kickers, Will Lawry the only player to kick multiple goals. Harry Scholes, Nathan Trotter and Tyson Schultz were effective in our defence, with Will Trengove and Hugo Thyer combining well through the midfield.
Looking ahead, we’ll be striving for an improved, four-quarter performance against South Adelaide this Saturday at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval, starting at 10:00 am.
