Villi’s U18s Match Report – Preliminary Final

Sponsored by VILLI’S FAMILY BAKERY

UNDER 18s

The Under 18s had a very good win against Glenelg in our Preliminary Final on Saturday. A great second half saw us run out winners by 49 points and book a place in the Grand Final this week against Central District.

We started well and kicked the first 3 goals of the game but the Tigers worked their way back in with a couple of late goals and we took a 9 point lead into quarter time.

The second quarter was a bit of an arm wrestle and Glenelg took their chances and kicked 4 goals and 1 point whilst we missed a few and kicked 2 goals 4 points. It was all tied up at half time with both teams locked on 38 points.

We played well in the third quarter with some good pressure and kicked 6 goals 3 points whilst holding the Bays to 3 points. This set the game up for us well and we closed out with a last quarter of 3 goals to 1 to win by a final margin of 49 points.

We had many good players – our midfield of Jack Cook, Rome Burgoyne, Jett Hasting, Kade Herbert and Harry Dodd were strong contributors all day, Lachie Sands and Isaac Edwards were very good on their wings, Jack Hankins led a solid defensive unit and Jack Gray led the way up forward with 4 goals.

So to this week and the Under 18 Grand Final where we take on Central Districts at Adelaide Oval from 12pm.
