Rell’s Review – Round 3

Narelle Smith reviews Round 3 vs Central District

R3 saw us head to Coopers Stadium for the Power Networks SANFLW Energize Round – the weather did not help launching this new concept for SANFLW but the vibe and experience of having all 8 clubs at the one venue was fantastic.
We were the first game of 4 and we were lucky enough to dodge the rain and thunderstorms.  It turned out to be a fast flowing type game and both sides handled the ball well in the slightly greasy conditions. Q1 both teams scored where we were able to slightly edge the opposition by a goal.
The second quarter our backs were under siege and from some good defensive pressure we held Centrals and they failed to kick a major but kicked a whopping 6 points.  On the back of great rebound 50’s we kicked two goals to have a comfortable lead at half time. Our oppo didn’t go away all day and we missed some golden opportunities but pleasingly we kicked two majors in each quarter and looked comfortably in control but never sure winners.
We ended up winning by 15 points with lots to learn and improve on. Alice Tentye has continued her hot start to the season and we were solid up front with Klaudia O’Neill again looking strong kicking 4 majors and out-marking with strong hands and body work. We had such even contribution across the ground and our cohesion looks good. We now head to X-Convenience to take on North Adelaide in another triple header look forward to seeing our supporters make the trek to see our W program play.
