Rel’s Review – Round 4

Narelle Smith reviews Round 4 vs South Adelaide

We went down to Noarlunga full of confidence after a great win in Round 3.  Knowing the challenges Flinders University Stadium presents with wind and size we had a plan to move the ball rather than play in density which we knew is how South Adelaide like to play.

Our plan didn’t come to fruition, and we saw South play their home ground to full advantage and take the win by 35 points.  There were patches of how we know we can play and now it’s a matter of dusting ourselves off and suiting up for West who currently sit inside the top four.  We put together some great passages of play and we will now look to solidify that style of play with a few tweaks and chase a 4 quarter performance.

We celebrated our Captain Annie Falkenberg who played her 50th game, only the second player from the Eagles SANFLW program to do so.  On the other end of games played local Bute product Imogen Trengove debuted and held her own at the level which is exciting for the program.

We will be looking to bounce back quickly this week and play some quality football in Round 5 our first home game of the season at Oval Ave.  With an exciting quadruple header which will see Women’s and Men’s senior programs playing in a our retro guernseys (honouring the history of our club) it is a day not to be missed.

With the SANFL Men’s season commencing, it will be a great day to get to Maughan Thiem Kia Oval to watch some footy.
