Round 8 saw us come up against Central Districts and despite their 1-7 record, we needed to be at our best. Adam Roocke and Wayne Hale again led from the backline and Soraj Habib continued his outstanding season, controlling the court throughout the night. Trevor Jarrett and Steve Edge combined superbly in attack, showing why they are the leagues leading goal scorers, with 10 and 4 goals respectively.
Holding a 49 point advantage at 3/4 time, we were able give some valuable court time to a number of our development squad, who all impressed and provided great entertainment for our Olympian and Paralympian fan base.
Not to be outdone, our Development team had another nail biting 4 point win. Adam Stehniak had a great game and Dani Hale scored the match winner with less than a minute to play.
We now focus our attention to our final minor round game this Friday night, against our likely grand final opponent Norwood. Our depth will be tested again, but we are confident that if we stick to our game plan that has worked all season, we hope to provide a big statement leading up to to the Grand Final on August 2nd.
Thankyou once again for everyone’s support. Go you mighty Eagles.
