2022 SANFLW Fixture Release

By ZAC MILBANK

The opening seven rounds of the 2022 SANFLW League season have been released, with Saturday double-headers a key feature of next year’s fixture.

And for the first time, the fixture for the inaugural SANFLW Development League fixture has also been announced, with matches to be played alongside the SANFLW League games.

West Adelaide’s Hisense Stadium will host three Saturday double-headers in the first seven rounds while Norwood’s Coopers Stadium will have two and South Adelaide’s Flinders University Stadium and Central District’s X Convenience Oval one each.

Reigning premier Glenelg will begin its title defence against 2021 minor premier Norwood in a blockbuster standalone season-opener at The Parade on Friday February 4.

Last season’s runner-up West Adelaide will play its first game at home against North Adelaide, with the two competition heavyweights lining up in the first match of a double-header at Hisense Stadium on Saturday February 5.

Woodville-West Torrens coach Narelle Smith will then make her SANFLW return against Sturt in the second contest for the afternoon at Richmond.

Rookie Central District mentor Ben Hunt faces a tough assignment against regular finalist South Adelaide at X Convenience Oval on Saturday, February 5, again under the guidance of Rick Watts.

The Bloods and Eagles will confront each other in an exciting Round 2 fixture on Friday February 11 at Hisense Stadium while South Adelaide and Glenelg will face off at Flinders University Stadium in another intriguing standalone battle in Round 3 on Sunday February 20.

“With a good mix of Friday night footy and Saturdays, SANFLW offers footy fans a great opportunity for SANFL supporters to get out and see high-quality state league women’s football in the early part of the year,” SANFL Head of Football Operations Sean Toohey said.

Both competitions will have a bye on the Adelaide Cup holiday weekend of Saturday March 12-13.

SANFL will release the fixtures for Rounds 8-12 and Finals early next year, including exciting announcements where SANFL supporters will be treated to full day of male and female football at one venue.

Entry to all SANFLW matches is free.
