The challenge for the group was to back up the good habits we produced the previous week to ensure we gave ourselves an opportunity. The playing group each had a clear focus on what they wanted to achieve for the day which gave them some clear direction individually.
I felt we came out with the right intent just as the previous week but were unable to get the score on the board in the first term. Central were dropping numbers back behind the footy and we lacked a little bit of composure to find the right target.
Our good work around the football continued in the second quarter where our ruckman gave us first use and we were able to play the majority of the quarter inside our 50m arc. This allowed us to have 9 scoring shots to 1 for the quarter and take in a valuable 26 point half time lead.
Unfortunately, in the third quarter we were not able to maintain our defensive structure and got a little ahead of ourselves to opposition a chance to win.
Our standards had not been met and the group at 3 quarter time was motivated to finish off their work. We got back to that ferocious hunt on the football as well as some very smart ball use to run out 49 point victors to a side we had lost twice to this year.
The destiny of this group’s year is in our hands now and we need to strive to bring a ferocious hunt at the contest this week against an inform Sturt side.
