UNDER 18s
The under 18s had a good win against Glenelg on Saturday, finishing strongly for a 33 point win.
In the first quarter we had plenty of the footy but we did not convert our forward 50 entries into scores and Glenelg by contrast were very efficient and they led by 7 points at quarter time.
The second quarter was similar and Glenelg really upped their efficiency scoring easily from their forward entries and at one stage led the contest by 20 points. A late goal by us brought the margin back to 13 points at half time.
In the third quarter we started to get some reward with our entries being better targeted and we generated more shots on goal – unfortunately we didn’t have our radar quite right and kicked 3 goals 4 points for the quarter whilst the Tigers kicked 2 goals 1 point – which left us 4 points behind at three quarter time.
The players put it all together in the last quarter with a very good quarter of footy kicking 6 goals 3 points whilst defending a lot better and holding Glenelg to just 2 points to run out 33 point winners.
Our best players were good all day and Romario Clemente, Seb Cavallaro, Zack Lloyd and Connor Rugari were prominent in our midfield, Noah Ah Chee and Cooper Wurfel were very good on our wings and Harvey O’Brien (6 contested marks) was a very good forward option and he was well supported by Jack Marks (3 goals) and Ron Waters (3 goals).
This week we were pleased to debut four players – Jude Angove, Zack Holdsworth, Jack Musci and Elijah Buckskin and all of them played their parts in the win. We have now played 40 players in the under 18 team this season in the 8 games to date.
This week we take on the Redlegs at home from 1.50pm.

UNDER 16s
Round 8 saw us face up to Glenelg once again after meeting them in Round 7.
Following from that heavy loss, the group spent the week reviewing key areas of the game and reflecting on individual performances, identifying several areas for improvement heading into the rematch.
We started the game strongly, bringing high intensity and pressure around the contest. That early effort allowed us to generate 11 inside 50 entries in the opening quarter, but we were unable to capitalise on the scoreboard, finishing with four behinds.
The second quarter was a high-quality contest from both sides. We were able to build momentum through the middle stages of the term and were rewarded for our forward entries, going into the main break trailing by just four points.
Unfortunately, the third quarter proved costly, with Glenelg taking control early in the third and over a nine-minute period where they kicked five unanswered goals. To the players’ credit, they responded well and fought to regain momentum, but the damage had been done, with Glenelg finishing the term with eight goals to our one.
Pleasingly, the group reset well in the final quarter and returned to playing our brand of football, finishing strongly and winning the last term.
Goal kickers for the weekend were Hamish Coombe, Heath Willmott, Luke Flaherty, Jimmy Burton, Luke Hunton and Ashton Remphrey.
Notable performances came from Hamish Coombe, Luke Flaherty, Campbell Woolford, Oliver Lange, Heath Willmott and Jimmy Burton.
We now turn our attention to this week’s clash against Norwood at Home.
