After a nail biting draw against Norwood, 3 new players got their opportunity to represent the Eagles at SANFL U16 Level.

Kicking with the breeze in the first quarter we were able to kick 4 goals to South’s 1. The second quarter into the breeze proved to be a little bit of a struggle, however we were able to restrict South to 3 goals and were able to kick one ourselves. Taking a one goal lead into the half time break.

Both Teams were making it a real contest and the second half was set to be another close one. In the third quarter I think the players became a little complacent and thought the breeze would do the work for them, South did a good job during this term to kick 2 goals into the breeze, if not for some inaccurate kicking South probably should have kicked a couple more, we were able to kick 3 for the term, to hold a 10 point lead at three quarter time.

The last quarter was going to be another battle as we had to work our way into the breeze. Our start to the last quarter was a good one & we kicked our second goal for the term at the 7 minute mark to take our lead out to 22 points. To South’s credit they never gave in at any stage & were able to kick the next 4 goals 1 to take the lead by 3 points with a minute to go. What a time to do our first coast to coast for the year, ball kicked in from point, 5 marks & a handball later Pat Fry has taken a contested mark 30 metres out from goal on a 45 degree and after the siren converts the goal to win the game by 3 points.

With 10 goal scorers & Pat kicking 2, we were able to find an avenue to goal, in a Team performance Brock Thomson, Jase Burgoyne, Jay Watson, Sam Nicholls, Will Pearce & Lachie Hendry had consistent performances throughout the day.

This week we take on North Adelaide at Prospect who have also had the 2 wins, therefore it looks likely to be another good challenge for the group.
