Vili’s U18’s Match Report – Round 1

Sponsored by VILI'S FAMILY BAKERY

The Under 18s had a very good win to start our season, winning a high quality game against South Adelaide by 17 points.

We started well into the breeze at Flinders University Stadium and with a goal late in the quarter took a narrow 4 point lead into quarter time. The Panthers then dominated the early part of the second quarter before we kicked a couple of goals and we were trailing by 7 points at half time. A bit of a mixed bag in the third quarter – we did spend a bit of time in our forward line but couldn’t score freely and South extended their lead to 18 points at one point before we kicked a couple of late goals to bring the margin back to 7 points. We started very well in the last quarter kicking the first 6 goals and as a result we were able to bank a good win.

We had many good players, with Isaac Edwards, our Captain for the day playing some really good footy, Logan Hughes was a key part of our attack with 4 goals, Jack Cook, Tarik Sauer, Rome Burgoyne and Tate Delmenico were very strong in defence and Lachie Sands, Harry Dodd and Jett Hasting were great contributors in our midfield.

Being Round 1 we had a host of debutants and congratulations go to: Logan Hughes, Jack Cook, Zac Cruse, Joel Hill, Oskar Kilpatrick, James McGorman,  Zane Peucker, Jevan Phillipou,  Cooper Reschke, Lachie Sands and Hayden Willmott on their first games of Under 18 footy for the Club.

This week we prepare for the challenge of playing West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.
