Vili’s U18’s Match Report – Round 5

Sponsored by VILI'S FAMILY BAKERY

The Under 18s had a much deserved win against Glenelg on Saturday kicking 11 goals 9 points to the Tigers 9 goals 6 points.

We started well but in similar fashion to previous weeks didn’t quite reward ourselves on the scoreboard kicking 2 goals 5 points to Glenelg’s 1 goal 1 point.

Scoring started to open up a bit in the second quarter for both sides and we took a 15 point lead into half time leading 6 goals 5 points to 4 goals 2 points.

Our third quarters have not been our strongest this year but we picked the right match to have a good one and we kicked 4 goals 2 points to Glenelg’s 1 goal 2 points to hold a 33 point lead at three quarter time.

After we kicked the first goal of the last quarter, Glenelg kicked the last 4 to make it a 15 point margin on the final siren.

We had many good players in a whole of team effort. Kade Herbert was a strong ball winner around the ground and good up forward with his 3 goals, Brody Mair and Cal Fairall were midfielders who both did some very good work in and around the contest, Pat Toole was creative in a variety of midfield roles kicking 2 goals from his stints up forward and similarly Archie Charles continued his good form on the wing, Tom Luck continued to give good service to his midfielders with his ruck work and Darcy Hudson played well in our defence.

This week we debuted Harry Carroll and Josh Thompson and both did some good things with Harry kicking 2 goals. Jordan Tilbrook also played his first game this year after an extended absence with injury and it was great to have his presence on the field.

This week we play North Adelaide at home from 10.00am on Saturday 29 April
