Vili’s U18’s Match Report – Round 7

Sponsored by VILI'S FAMILY BAKERY

The Under 18s had a good win against Sturt at Wigan Oval on Saturday. It made it our third win in a row.

It was a tight first half with both teams having periods of dominance and we took a 12 point lead into the rooms at half time. The third quarter started amid a squall of rain and wind which made kicking and handling the ball very  difficult for both teams but fortunately it was favouring our end and we gained control of the match in this quarter and finished off strongly in the last.

We had many good players and our midfield performed strongly with, Kade Herbert, Cal Fairall and Brody Mair all getting a lot of the footy with Tom Luck giving them a good look at it with his ruck work as well as 2 goals whilst playing forward. Pat Toole was also dangerous forward and midfielder (3 goals) and Izaac Niemann did well supporting Tom Luck in ruck and kicking 2 goals himself. Jedd Thomson and Lachie Lucas led a good defensive unit restricting Sturt’s scoring.

This week we were able to play Declan Walshaw and Zak Godlevsky in their first games of under 18 footy and Dec Slattery played his first game in 2023 after 2 games last year.  All did well and showed what great team mates they are.

On Saturday we take on the top team in the Under 18 competition in Central Districts at X Convenience Oval from 11 am.
