Villi’s U16’s Match Report – Round 13

Sponsored by VILLI’S FAMILY BAKERY

The Challenge this week was to rebound with a better performance from what was delivered the week before.

It wouldn’t be easy as Centrals were third on the later and we are still vying for a top 4 spot. The conditions were also made for a tight game.

With Archie Jones making his debut for the year. We began well and kicked the first 3 goals of the game to lead by 17 points at Quarter Time. We started the second quarter well by kicking the first goal, but inconsistency has been an issue this year and Centrals bounced back and kicked the next 3 goals we were able to kick one late, holding a 12 point lead at Half Time.

We knew Centrals were going to keep at us in the second half, to stay in the game we had to continue to work at our Accountability when we didn’t have the ball in hand. To the lads credit they were up to it and in a tight second half we managed to kick 3 goals 4 to Centrals 3 goals 3 and ran out victors by 13 points.

In what was a better 4 quarter effort our better players include Zane Peucker in the midfield, Owen Hartley Brown and Khye Maddern up forward, Jevan Phillipou midfield, with James McGorman and Jack Mumford doing a good job in defence.

Goal kickers include, Cooper Quick 2 and singles to Wil Fiegert, Max Farrugia, Will Rayner, Jevan Phillipou and Zane Peucker.

This week we take on Norwood at the Parade in which should be a big day of football with our Under 13 & 14 Metropolitan squads playing before the Under 16’s & 18’s.
