Villi’s U16’s Match Report – Round 17

With two Rounds to go the Under 16 ladder was tight with only one win separating Second to Sixth spot in which we were placed. Therefore good performances were required for us to stay in contention if we were to stay in the Finals race. Hamish Watson made his debut for us this week being our 51st player to play.

With North on the same amount of wins, we knew we were going to get a good contest. North began well & took a 13 point lead going into the first break. North then kicked the first Four goals and opened up a 37 point lead midway thru the Second quarter. To our guys credit we responded before the main break with two quick goals to reduce the margin back to 25 points.

During the third quarter the lads dug deep and got back the margin to 13 points at the break. By midway thru the last quarter we showed some character and got back to within 6 points. However North rallied and kicked the next 3 goals to go on and win by 26 points.

Brock Jamieson & Hayden Willmott battled hard all day thru the midfield, James McGorman and Anthony Beracci defended well with Cooper Reschke battling hard in Ruck and up forward. Jevan Phillipou kicked 3 goals, with 2 to Tarkyn Moffatt and singles to Hayden Willmott & Zach Holdsworth.

With a slim chance of playing Finals we take on South Adelaide at Home on Sunday at 11am.
