Villi’s U16’s Match Report – Round 5

Sponsored by VILLI’S FAMILY BAKERY

In warm conditions we took on Glenelg at Stratarama Stadium. Unfortunately for us our start wasn’t the one we would have liked and at quarter time we trailed by 22 points.

Our Second Quarter was much more competitive and we went in at half time trailing by 24 points with a sense of optimism that our best footy was yet to come.

To the lads credit they dug a bit deeper during the third quarter and certainly played much better footy than we had offered up in the first half and got within 3 points of Glenelg at the three quarter time break.

The Players were pleased with their efforts at three quarter time, however Glenelg stepped up the tempo and ran out the game better than we did and went on to win by 6 goals.

Round 5 probably summed up our season thus far, we play well in patches and unfortunately at this level that it isn’t enough.

Jack Cook performed well thru the midfield and down back, Freddie Wilson contributed in Ruck & up forward, whilst Elliot Stubing and Lachie Sands had their moments thru the midfield with James McGorman and Logan Hughes being serviceable. Our goal kickers include Khye Maddern with 2 and singles to Freddie Wilson, James Chalubek, Jamie Russell Swanson and Logan Hughes.

This week we look forward to taking on North Adelaide at Home.
