UNDER 18s

The under 18s had a very good win against Norwood on Saturday, winning by 31 points.

The game was tight most of the day with both teams’ defences on top and scoring was difficult. At quarter time the scores were locked away at 2 goals 3 a piece and both teams only added one gaol each in the second quarter.

We had some better territory in the third quarter but didn’t quite capitalise kicking 2 goals 5 points but we ran the game out strongly with a 4 goals to one last quarter for the win.

Zac Schwarz, Harry Dodd and Jevan Phillipou were big ball winners in the middle and Jevan added 2 goals as well, Jack Hankins playing his first game this year was a very good defender along with Tate Delmenico, Tarik Sauer and James McGorman and Hudson Angove gave us some good drive from his wing in just his second under 18 game.

With the College season commencing this week both teams had many changes and we made ten, including giving opportunities to first gamers Jamie Russell-Swansson and Owen Hartley-Brown and both played very well.

This week we turn our attention to Sturt at Thomas Farms Oval at Unley from 12.20pm

UNDER 16s

Our effort over the Four quarters was much more consistent this week in a game where there wasn’t much in it for the majority of the day.

Six new players got the opportunity to play for the Eagles at SANFL level for the first time, all contributed to us playing a more consistent brand of Footy. Well done to Mitch Quinton, Riley Henneker, Riley Miller, Jett Thomas, Ben Adam & Adawynn Hughes.

In a tight first half we took some confidence going into the main break with a lead of 11 points in a low scoring affair with only 8 goals kicked between the two teams. The theme at half time was to sustain our effort working offensively as well as defensively. We did and opened up a 30 point margin at three quarter time. We continued on in the last quarter as we did in the third and were able to run our victors by 41 points.

With 8 individual goal kickers we were able to find different avenues to score. Angus Menta with 3, Tate Wolthers 3, Zac Holdsworth 2 and singles to Tommy Lucas, Hunter Wellgreen, Connor Robertson, Hamis Wildbore & Mitch Quinton.

In a good Team effort Tate Wolthers and Seb Cavallaro in the midfield, Jack Marks in Ruck, Hunter Wellgreen & Angus Menta along with Riley Miller all contributed significantly in our performance.

This week we look forward to taking on the Double Blues at Thomas Farms Oval.
