Straight From The Sauce – Round 14

Sam Jacobs reviews Round 14 vs Sturt

We played 2 good quarters throughout the game and when we are playing against top 3 teams it’s just not enough. To come away with an 8-point loss shows that we are good enough to match the best teams, and kicking 5 goals in the last quarter, but we need to stay consistent with effort and execution for longer in games.

The close losses are banking up this year, but we don’t expect that it will just turnaround, we are doing the work at training to improve our duration of performance as quick as we can.

Better performers this week were Kade Herbert, who for an under 18 age, to have 21 touches, 2 contested marks, 5 score involvements and a goal was impressive. Adam D’Aloia continued on his great season and gave us some real grunt in the midfield, and also showed he can be a damaging forward in the last quarter when we went for a different look. James Rowe played well again and his form has really been building over the last few games.

Disappointing not to get the win in Thommo and Rollers 250th and 150th respectively, but it was nice to celebrate the contribution they have made to not only our club, but also the league.

See you all this Saturday as we take on West Adelaide.
