Straight From The Sauce – Round 5

Sam Jacobs reviews Round 5 vs Sturt

What a great win it was to beat Sturt at Unley in Battersby’s 200th (Congratulations James), their first home game and the launching of their new facilities.

Sturt were able to kick 8 goals in a row through the 2nd and 3rd quarters but a strong start kept us close enough going into the last quarter. I was really proud of our next generation of leaders with player like Rowey, Ballas, AD, Zane, JoMo, Beecks, Luke Mckay, Weck, all having moments through out the game that played a big part.

I must hold a special acknowledgement for Firnsy’s game and his ability to take three strong contested marks in the tense final quarter. The boys have real confidence in our ability to run out games and it’s a credit to them for the work that they have put in.

This should give the boys a lot of belief that we are on the right path. With South Adelaide this week before the state bye, its important we put in a strong performance for Goldy’s 250th and Reddo’s 150th. Both have been terrifice servants of not only our club, but the League, so it will be great to have as many supporters there to cheer them along.

It will be a great game, see you all at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval Saturday.
