Under 18 – Round 5 Match Report

Eagles 10.18 (78) def Central Districts 2.7 (19)
Goal Scorers: Frederick 6, Pearce 2, Buck, Francis
Best Players: Buck, Dawkins, Frederick, Jones, Barnett, McCann

The Under 18s had a good win against Central Districts on Saturday winning 10 goals 18 points to the Bulldogs’ 2 goals 7 points.  We had a really strong opening quarter kicking 4 goals 6 whilst holding Centrals to just the one point.  From there we controlled the match although bad kicking at goal did plague us a bit as the final tally of 18 points suggests.

We had a number of good players and Zac Buck and Aidan Lock were tireless workers in our midfield and found plenty of the ball, Harrison Dawkins was a very good lead up forward and was our leading possession winner, Jack McCann returned to the side this week and played well on his wing.

Luke Barnett continued his strong form in our midfield and up forward, Michael Frederick was a lively forward and kicked 6 goals, Zac Phillips rucked well all day and gave our midfield a good look at the ball and Lachie Jones and Shaun McNeilly were very good in our defence.

We were able to provide opportunities for 4 more players to play their first games of Under 18 football this week and Ethan Brownlie, Callum Gaze, Sam Kennedy and Kyle Kerruish all made good contributions to the win and acquitted themselves well.

This week we play Glenelg at Maughan Thiem KIA Oval on Saturday at 11.00am
