Rell’s Review – Round 6

After two venue and time / day changes to our fixture we headed to Magain Stadium to take on South. The rivalry is fast becoming a big one with our games usually tight and tough. We were determined to start well and we came out the blocks kicking 3 team constructed goals within 10 minutes. O’Neill continued her great season form kicking 2 of those 3 Q1 goals with nice supply from our hard-working forwards and mids. Zerella hit the scoreboard also with a nice set shot from some classic in and under work.

We gave up two South goals in Q2 and in true South style they locked our offensive game down where we struggled to get anything going. The rain fell and the deck was thick and heavy. We won Q1 & Q3, South Q2 & Q4. Our final goal came in Q3 with some classy finishing from Cher Waters.

The South goals came from our lack of discipline and some oppo pressure close to goal that we didn’t handle well. The key piece to our game was we won the game by 6 points with a cohesive team performance. Plenty of learnings that we will address during the week and use this game to keep rolling towards the back half of our season.

Lucy Moore was outstanding over 4 quarters and our back 6 continue to be hard to get past. Supported well by our contest machine Alice Tentye who continues to impress with her ability to get to contest. We now head home for our first game with our Men sides on the Kings Birthday. It would be amazing to have our supporters watch the Eagles W team play Centrals thanks for everyone who shows interest in our program we really do appreciate it.
